traditionally, there is no bear in the street
historically, there is no bear in the parlor
practically, there is no bear on the divan
licking icing from the bowl,
pulling ribbons off of packages,
mauling the kitchen staff or chauffer
all is well in the city tonight
the lights are lit
the bears are in the woods,
picking red berries
off the green vines
but your dog just stole a cookie
